| partners | | Another awesome day on the trails! We started off around 8am and made a good pace up trail 109. A couple miles in we saw a pair of white tail deer. We continued and turned on the Reavis Falls junction around mile 3.5. We made our way to the saddle and got a good look down in the canyon we'd be descending. I knew on the way down this was going to be some work coming out of.
We made our way down and eventually reached Reavis Creek. We turned and headed up canyon. This was my favorite section of the hike. The creek bed feels like a playground. You can make it as hard or easy as you want. The creek goes for a while and finally you can see the top of the falls. As I neared the falls I was taken back by how tall it is. Pictures don't do it justice. Everyone needs to experience this area in person. We took our lunch and enjoyed the cool mist coming off the falls.
After the break, we started the return hike. We cruised down the creek bed and then started making our ascent. We made our way up by taking short breaks every few minutes. The sun and heat were taking their toll. With some effort, we reached the saddle and looked back into the canyon. Its hard to believe how much ground you cover on this hike. From the saddle its all down hill and we were back at the car in no time.
Reavis Falls is spectacular! I'm really glad I went and would love to see them again when the water is roaring over. |
