Some of the quartz has migrated downhill toward a shallow ravine. I assume this is an old gold mine shaft that has been sealed. I didn't go farther being low on water on a hot 90 degree day. Switchbacks up to the National Trail look daunting but I'll give it a try if the temps take a predicted dip next week. Numerous Teddy Bear Cholla undergoing growth spurts, and the Buckhorns are close to full bloom. Lots of brittlebush and creosote of course. In the lower ravines there appears numerous ironwood trees. With their lavender and pink blossoms, they should make for a colorful little display in May. The Pyramid strikes me as an exercise trail. You really have to look for stuff along this route if your aim is visual. |
