| no partners | | Day 1--Upstream from another section we had been in, we were treated to thousands of flowers, Mariposa or Sego? Lily, cactii, and some brillant globe mallow. Never seen so many of the Lilys' and more buds indicate a lot more on the way if it doesn't cook out there. Some slickrock in the chosen canyon, some pools, not deep, and lots of solutioned and interesting rock these mountains are known for. Many frogs and one water snake I caught, it peed on me and I had to wash my hand because it stunk after that. Another exceptional car camp site, this in the grasslands and by some nice small weathered trees. We saw some ruins up high but did not look impressive by binocs so didn't go there this trip.
Day 2--Plan B ( shoulda done Plan A) checked out some tank improvements then down a very brushy canyon with a few pools but like a jungle and I didn't like it much. We had a loop canyon picked out but we bailed early and up thru the short cliff bands into another flower and prickly pear wonderland back to the car. |
