Day 1-- A little scenic drive, walk in a slickrock creek bed 10 min then come to a 40-50 foot drop off. Uh-oh. Brian thought he could do it but it dropped then more sequentially that we could see. Up on onto an old mining road, grown over. Nothing about this on the map. Tunnel entrance, in we go and go and go. Possibly the second largest radium mine in the Sierra Ancha. Got some Bat pics, gypsum hairs, sulfite crystals and passage pics. We ran out every lead, the main tunnel we were in had a rock fall but we climbed an ore chute and were off and running. Good thing our headlamps held out.
Great views from the mine road, followed an animal trail on around for a while. I found an arrowhead. We went back to the car then drove on a little ways and took another short hike, getting into yet another more agreeable canyon with slickrock and pools. Found another old mine, not too exciting and made a loop out of the overgrown old road.
Car camp was on a point that had incredible views, and some nasty pinstriping for the Toyota.

Day 2, off to another spot, Brian knew the whereabouts of a ruin that was pretty hard to get to and in a nice canyon. Problem, the road and the fact you had to downclimb through several cliff bands then come back up. It is a well defended site that is for sure. It was many traverses to make the bottom then some climbing I did not like to get up to it. One room and no sign of any disturbance outside of probably the archeo guys for a long time. The narrows nearby were super cool and we plan to return to check out another area then go thru the narrows which will probably mean swimming, a handline and some climbing. But I was not happy with our route so I hope the pics will bolster my desire to return.
