| no partners | | After The Windows and a quick lunch, we headed over to the Devils Garden Trailhead and set out. Landscape Arch was amazing, and then right after that the trail got really cool. Following the tops of fins and winding around between them, it is one of the wildest we'd seen. We took the side trails to Partition Arch and Navajo Arch just as the wind started to pick up, making it only another 1/2 mile or so before being driven back by the stinging sand. We covered our faces the best we could, but even with sunglasses on, it was almost impossible to see. We plowed back to the car, having a new appreciation for how inhospitable a dust storm in this terrain can be.
An amazing trial that is a must for a return trip. I'm thinking dust masks and wraparound safety goggles, maybe one of those flip-down full face shields.  |
