| no partners | | Couldn't do Monument Valley without at least taking a quick look at Canyon De Chelly on the way home. The plan was to hit a couple of lookouts like Spider Rock and Mummy Cave and maybe hike down to one of the ruins. Then we saw an empty horse outfitter and the group made a quick improv decision to check out horseback riding. The price was right...about $30 bucks a person to enjoy a 2.5 hour trip into the canyon. We accepted the deal from our friendly guide, and Dallas Cowboy fan, Gabriel. Gabriel didn't seem to mind entertaining this group of Iron City Steeler fans.
We couldn't have timed this trip any better as De Chelly was at its fall color peak, the weather was beautiful, the clouds amazing, the light breeze perfect. I only wished we didn't have to go back for another day.
The horseback trip was a great teaser into what De Chelly has to offer, and I look forward to going back soon and visiting our friend Gabriel. |
