| no partners | | Frijole Ranch is also the starting point for a couple of short hikes in the area. My goal was the Smith Spring Loop, which was recommended to me the previous day by park rangers while hiking on the McKittrick Canyon Trail. The one I wanted to do (Devil's Hall) was closed due to flood damage in September. I was disappointed, since I knew that fall colors would be great there based on imike's photos from 2008. The advice from the rangers was perfect, as the tour of this historic ranch and subsequent hike to Smith Spring was wonderful!  |
