| no partners | | Today was like the most perfect day, weather-wise to go for a hike, so I grabbed the moody teenager and the dog and headed out to Silly Mountain. You know...to set the proper tone for the new year...plus, I haven't hiked for such a long time (broke my ankle...then re-broke it jumping over a slithering rattlesnake on my way {running} down from the Flat Iron). Anyway, I think we did about 2 miles. I have absolutely NO sense of direction, but I checked the topo map, and kinda pieced the hike together and came up with something around 2 miles...which is crazy awesome, since I would have been happy just chillen at home...in my jammies, probably perusing Pinterest and pretending to be productive. But NOW, my legs are sore and I smell like dirt...and couldn't be happier. A nice, warm shower is totally in order! I brought my dog and saw four others along the trail. This is a great trail for all ages...we saw young families, older hikers, a young married couple, and even passed a Grampa telling one of his life stories to his grandsons...and that equals pretty awesome in my book.
P.S. The teenager even said he had a good time. Oh happy day! |

Wildflowers Observation Light
I saw some pretty cool wispy things and got a shot with the sun behind them...very lovely! I also saw some cute little yellow flowers (dunno what plant, but it had flat, broad leaves...see picture) Also got a shot of a saguaro cactus that had seen better days, but the TEXTURE was kinda beautiful. Anyway...hoping for a wetter winter so I can see the Superstitions all covered in yellow flowers again! |
