| no partners | | I received a request from Suzaz to grab my camera and check out the "yellow blanket" that was spreading across Silly Mountain. Suz is recovering from surgery to repair damage to her foot and tendons suffered during a fall last year. So away I went to Silly Mountain, camera in hand. When I got to the Trailhead, I was amazed at the display from the lowly Brittlebush that covers the slopes of the mountain. It appeared as though every plant was trying to outdo it's neighbor by presenting more flowers than the next. I wasn't prepared for the soft aroma that the flowers were emitting, it was an awesome experience
I walked around the mountain but found the best displays were along the South side that parallels Hwy 60. When I finished, I headed over to Siphon Draw to see if there was similar flower activity going on there. The Brittlebush are still a couple of days away from a major display, but the Mexican Poppies were in bloom although in smaller clumps.
It's coming on that time of year, so keep the cameras handy and ready to go at a moments notice. |

Wildflowers Observation Substantial Although sparse in most areas, there was more than enough to satisfy even the most dedicated flower lover. |
