Hiked with a friend from work who lives nearby. We were the only ones on the trail from 8am until about 10:15am saw first other person. Went up to the Thumb - had a snack then back down. Windy at the top but overall pleasant with right layers on.

There is something intoxicating for me about the drive from past the intersection with Alma School to the new TH. The last two roads (128th St and Ranch something-or-other) are like a tonic to me. I feel like I'm really away from everything and you can see the whole ridge of granite boulders as you approach the TH. Always peaceful there and quiet. Seems so remote. Feel lucky that people in Scottsdale were smart enough in the 90's to protect this area.
