| partners | | angela has been up thompson, mcdowell and drinkwater peaks, so i felt she needed to add east end to her portfolio
mia came along for the ride, too
met up at the tom's thumb trailhead and hiked up to a saddle below east end
found the use trail, which is becoming more defined each time i go up there
the only difficulty with this ascent is the steep scree footing
topped out to excellent views under clear skies, pleasant temps and a light breeze
had snacks and signed the register, then saw john9l coming up - nice to see you, john
talked with him a bit, then he continued on his way
carefully descended the use trail, then went back to the trailhead
next up was the marcus landslide
it's a smooth trail with little elevation change until you get to the loop, and offers contrasting sights of the boulder covered peaks to the southwest and the open desert landscape to the northeast
the loop is the best part
we had lunch at submarine rock
nice hiking with mia for the first time, and with angela again
i have one more peak for her to do: black mountain
she secretly likes having others put things on her wish list
thanks for the root beer! |
