| partners | | Chris and I started our hike to Tony's Ranch from the Haunted Canyon Trail Head off 287A (very small parking area, about 3 cars)
The drive through the mine area on 287 was pretty easy navigating thanks to all the signs and 287A was in good shape just a bit narrow of a road.
We started out at 7:30 in the morning and it was cold, there was a thin layer of ice on the tank at Grapevine Spring which you pass shortly up the trail.
The hike is a gradual climb up to a saddle with Government Hill to the West and then a gradual descent down into Haunted Canyon passing a large tank at the junction with the Paradise Trail and about a mile further you pass the junction with the Bull Basin trail.
When we arrived at the ranch we found two guys camping right by the Cabin's front door with a camp fire, right by the the sign that says no camping, no fires.
After visiting the Cabin and taking some pictures we headed back down the canyon to have lunch before our climb back out.
This is a beautiful area and I plan on doing a backpack next time so I can have more time to explore more of the area. |
