We enjoyed an easy float/paddle trip on the Colorado River though spectacular Black Canyon.
No prior kayaking experience was needed. We paddled/floated a relaxing 11.5 miles from the Hoover Dam to Willow Beach over two days. Expect to experience hot springs, waterfalls, sauna caves, wildlife, crystal-clear green water and to learn a bit about the history of the this part of the Colorado River!
We were using an outfitter to obtain permits, rent the canoes and take care of the shuttling. The cost for everything, including the campground fees, were $106/person.
We camped Friday evening at the Willow Beach campground. Early Saturday morning, the outfitters picked us up and shuttled us to the launch point at the base of Hoover Dam. We have put in just below the dam then paddled/floated to Goldstrike Canyon and Arizona Hot Springs. We have spend the day hiking and exploring the very fun side canyons.
Saturday evening we camped at Arizona Hot Springs, just off the river. We had nice campfire, food, drinks and lots of fun.
Sunday morning paddled down to Willow Beach and our waiting vehicles. |
