| no partners | | Another weekend, more mines. Sat hike from hades in the cross country I elect to wear shorts and pay with my legs looking like a cat scratching post. Got to the suspected old mine site/town though. No underground there, all locked up. Hike back nice in a short canyon section of a loop we were making with marble white polished short drops. Would be nice with water.
Some confusing and a little scary driving ( full size on quad trails with drop offs is always fun) absolutely fabulous car camp site on a cliff edge. Next day hike to more old mines, reclaimed, but if you are persistent there is always a way in and we found one. Old mine, some artifacts dating to the early 1900's if not before. Stunning rock colors,end of one drift gypsum had grown and slumped off the ceiling, the last few feet was like walking in a foot of the most powdery snow. Still more to go. |
