I had solo hiked this the previous Monday and thought it had a great summit. I happen to have one of the greatest adventure dogs ever. When I summited I couldn't help but get excited for Lola to try it. Lola is a 33lb Peagle (Pitbull Beagle mix) that has hiked in some of the hardest places in the US. She is no ordinary dog and I am not suggesting anyone should try to take their dog up here. She joins us in all adventures but usually finds a warm spot to wait for us at the bottom.
Lola is no stranger to type 2 fun but has never experienced this type of heights. She tried to enjoy the top block but was pretty nervous- she waited patiently and did not explore much. Lucky for her she is easily carried if needed- (she has gone into east clear creek on rappel and been jugged out in a backpack- again this is not a dog friendly hike!)
We ran into 2 beginner climbers in full gear including a rope up at the top. I suppose they thought we were a bit silly to bring her along but after hearing a few adventure stories they realized we chose the adventure specifically for her.
The next day we resumed our adventure routine by having her lead us into Wilson canyon to find the famously 4 star but highly terrifying "Windows Route" she happily waited at the bottom while I had a type 2 fun experience.
I don't have a computer… Not because I'm against having one. Really just hasn't been a top priority on my gear list.
I am now attempting to navigate, post, reply (etc..) this site with only an iPhone… Wish me luck!
