Set out on a fairly nice day. The drive up 143 was time consuming. Headed up Brown's trail, made it to the saddle no problem. I think I caught glimpses of a deer, and there was something small rustling around near the peak I couldn't get a good view of to identify.
The chute was chilly and there was some ice in a few places. The rocks wick the heat right out of your hands, I wish I had brought gloves. Besides the generally poor footing, there are only 3 obstacles of any difficulty, and the ten foot wall was difficult, but not impossible and once you pick a route it wasn't too bad. It is steep, but I didn't really get a sense of vertigo going up.
Great views from the top, and warmed up quite a bit back out in the sun. Coming back down was pretty easy in comparison. Without the directions and photos from others we would have had no idea how to get to the top, thanks fellow HikeAZ'ers! |
