| no partners | | Headed for Upper Lake Mary today with my sea kayak. I had just had the rudder cable replaced at a river outfitter's in Flagstaff where a friend works. The cable had broken on my last trip in April. It was great having the rudder system working again, especially since it was very WINDY. The wind kept changing direction. Of course, like smoke from a campfire, most often the direction changes were into my face! I sometimes had to paddle very hard to make any headway. But it was good to be out on the water again.
Upper Lake Mary is a bit low, but still has quite a bit of water in it compared to other lakes I've seen in the area.
I'm back in the kayak again
Out where my friend is the wind
Where the long-necked herons feed
On the lowly water weed
Back in the kayak again |
