| partners | | On our way to a 22 mile hike in the cool 5500 - 7000' elevations south of Crown King.
6:30am, a mile west of Cleator, putting at 20mph, something feels funny in the front end. Pull over but.... nothing immediately obvious, then Joe spots it. The drivers side Control Arm (normally affixed firmly to the frame of the truck) has snapped off from the frame.
Maybe we can baby it back to I-17, 15 miles the other direction to avoid a huge towing bill. I put it in reverse to flip it around, and the front tires splay out like a wounded goat. (That's why they call it a control arm)
9:30am the tow truck shows up for the most expensive tow of my life.
Miles are from a walk on the road to find the Mile Marker for the Tow Truck directions, short off trail jaunt, pacing.
Extremely lucky it happened while we were going straight and slow. Hate to see the outcome if it happened at 75mph on the I-17 while coming down the hill
On the way in saw 1 Javalina, 1 huge deer, 1 roadrunner
Didn't see any Friggin Flowers or Springs. |
