| no partners | | Agassiz Peak is the second-highest mountain in the U.S. state of Arizona at 12,360 feet. It is located in the San Francisco Peaks in the Coconino National Forest north of Flagstaff, Arizona
It is possible to take the chairlift up or down. This makes for 25 mins nice ride down the peak with views of San Fransisco Peaks. You could also see Kendrick mountain and even Grand Canyon on a clear day.
Climbing is only permitted in the winter.
Read what SummitPost says: Hiking above treeline is illegal on Agassiz Peak due to the "threatened with critical habitat" status of the San Francisco Peaks Groundsel (Senecio franciscanus), a dwarf alpine species of the sunflower family. The status was granted in 1983 and off-trail hiking was disallowed in 1984. Trail hiking was restricted as of mid-July 1985. |
