| no partners | | We were on our way to Fossil Creek Thursday morning for a 2-night backpacking trip. DURING the drive up we found out that they were closing the entire Fossil Creek Wilderness due to fire hazard. We were a bit peeved since we called the ranger station just two days prior to confirm any restrictions and they told us there were no issues; wish they would have given more notice. So... since we already had everything packed and we were ready to go we needed to pick a new destination and ended up buying permits for Aravaipa on our cell phones.
The Canyon was a bit hot hiking during mid-day, but sitting in a shady spot in the creek was a one way ticket to heat relief. This time we checked out Booger, Paisano, and Hell Hole Canyon. We came across 8 deer in the main canyon and 5 bighorns in Hell Hole. Booger was a bit boring, Paisano was awesome -- want to go back, and Hell Hole had a bit of a creepy vibe but still very cool (parts of it are slot canyon-ish) |
