| no partners | | | Set out on a group adventure to the WCC. We intended to go to the White box and hanging gardens but missed our first forest road turn off and ended up on some pretty hairy roads. After going about 2 miles too far past the ranch, we turned left onto 142B which took us to a location at the edge of the canyon about 3 miles upstream of the hanging gardens trailhead. There was a nice trail down to the creek from this location, which apparently is the Calloway Trail. Moving downstream was a bit slow with 12 people. We made it about 1.5 miles before stopping and setting up camp. Once at camp I did some fly fishing and caught 6 smallmouth bass in about 20 minutes on a #16 BWO while the rest of the crew went hunting for crawdads. That night the fire raged, many beers were enjoyed, and a feast of fresh fish, corn, crawdads, taters, and cajun spices was had by all. |
