Came in from the West TH and set up shop at the large campsite near Horse Camp. Switched gear to a smaller pack and continued up stream for photos and fall color and ultimately reached the entrance to Deer Creek. Due to timing and shorter days I didn't venture up DC and instead headed back to camp. The changing light, shadows, and colors were a constant distraction. A nice fire kept the frost away but putting on wet/cold neoprenes and boots was an unfortunate wake up call after a night in the mid 20s. Explored Horse Camp Canyon on Tuesday and watched a small group of Bighorns feeding and rolling rocks down into the canyon, then took our time making our way back to the TH. I think we missed the prime foliage by about one week or so, but still enjoyed the trip. |
