I headed up the road with just enough light so that I didn't need to break out a flashlight until the 1 mile mark. Of course, I left my DLSR at home, so what do you know, but a bobcat crosses my path near the intersection of the road going to Bear Canyon. Then further up, what I believe to be a blacktail rattler was crossing the road. I did manage to get a picure of a Colorado River toad with my iPhone.

It was a pleasant night out, with a lot of hikers in the canyon, and apparently a couple up on the Phone Line as well. My goal was the two mile mark, but as I neared it a herd of stampeding skunks charged me, so I thought best to turn back.
