So for the 4th of July my buddy Ezra and I hiked around Sabino Canyon looking for wildlife and secretly hoping for some flash floods. We started out hiking towards Bear canyon then cut over to the dam. From there we hiked on the eastern side of Sabino creek. There we found a Tiger rattlesnake just of the path and tons of Earless lizards. After connecting with Sabino we found a pond where there was at least 16 Sonoran Toads...most of which were mating. Near this pond we discovered our 2nd Tiger rattlesnake. We then followed the road back to the visitor center. Crossing the road near Tram stop #1 was a Western Diamond back. There were a few other people observing. It is a pretty awesome sight.
Beautiful sunset with a rainbow to the east. Only a few drops of rain and some thunder (although that could have been the echoes of fireworks). What a great way to spend the holiday!
To fully appreciate the photoset you should look at the pictures in their original size. |
