The forecast looked good and we got an early (8:30AM) start from the trailhead but aside from a peek-a-boo view early on, the mountain stayed shrouded in clouds today. There was a work party at the lookout tower (fresh paint). It was still a good day in the outdoors but we'll have to come back again. The one positive was that bugs were virtually non-existent. After last weekend's swarm at Indian Henry's Hunting Ground at Mt. Rainier that was a welcome relief. Lots of people out on the trail today. I-5 traffic back to Seattle was nasty -- too bad there is a not an alternative route. Still, a bad day on the trail is still way better than a good day in the office! |
