Bugs were bad at the Mt. Fremont Lookout and flies were an annoyance at Seconds Burroughs where we had lunch along with about 20 other people. Couldn't believe all the people and couldn't it wasn't very windy at all at Second Burroughs. It would have been nice though on this hot day and it would have helped keep the bugs down. A couple big snow fields to cross between First and Second Burroughs but nothing too bad. We had planned to take the Sunrise Rim trail back down to Sunrise but there were signs about steep snow fields. We started down that path anyway but met a couple of hikers who said it looked sketchy and while I had my microspikes, my wife had forgotten hers so we back down toward Sunrise Camp. Will have to come back in the Fall once the bugs are gone and the temps have cooled down. All in all, another great day at the Mountain. |
