| no partners | | Well this was a circumference hike with a spur up to the summit, but definitely not strictly on Trail 308  I was on it for a bit though!
Anyway...was a lovely sunset hike in cooling October weather. I was trying out my new HAZ Tracks app (Android) and it's FANTASTIC! I had just been saying to a friend the other day (while using MapMyHike app) that I wish there were a more simple app that let me quickly mark waypoints, actually calculate elevation, and put the gps right into HikeArizona.COM! And love the simple switch of layers from topo to satellite...one click and switch. I even told another hiker about the app after seeing him use the MapMyStuff app...he downloaded it right away.
I digress I came down from the "notch" on a steep trail that scared the life out of me the first time I ever did it. The steepness and the loose rock were far worse than hiking in the Grand Canyon! This time I took it very slowly, and I *may* have scooted on my butt a few times. But I'm still alive.
This is what I love about Phoenix...in town hiking! Only saw about 10 others.
