| no partners | | really didn't want to go to the gym and sweat when I could just go outside and do the same thing. The temps were in the high 70s low 80s so let's do this. I prepared my new camera Pany ZS-50. And ya, I really didn't want a Pany again but the ZS-50 met my main requirements: shoots RAW, has an EVF and 30x zoom and wi-fi. They took off the GPS which is fine since HAZ can do the geocoding. They took down the pixels to 12 which means bigger pixels and hopefully less noise. Oh and I got a 60% discount via Lifetime Fitness. You see, my ZS-40 had issues from the start and then there was the whip cream and then there was the beach so we had to part company. Fortunately, because I do buy an extended warranty and though it took more effort from me than it should have, I got the price of the camera reimbursed as well as my full warranty price (they didn't meet the 5 day guarantee).
So off to the trail we went. It was definitely humid out there so without much effort I started sweating. So much so that I couldn't even hold the camera up to my eye to try out the manual focus cuz the sweat was trickling. However, the one cool thing about the EVF is that it automatically comes on when you bring the camera up to your eye.
There were a few people out hiking though not many. I continued clockwise on the circumference trail enjoying the views toward the sunlit Squaw Peak and the Phx Preserve as well as the little puff clouds and the colors of the landscape between the soft green foothill palo verde and the dark yellowish creosote and the color of the dirt to the green of the trees in the cityscape.
I experimented with the P and IA modes of the camera and of course, that 30x zoom.
I made my way around the western mountains and then back to the saddle trying to get about 3 miles in. I'm not a fan of humidity so that was enough for me. Besides, a frozen capuccino was calling my name. Yep, a nice quick little hike; good for the soul.
Here is a video that also includes the pictures. However, I realized I shot all the video in P mode rather than trying some in IA and other modes. I also think my editing software may not be updated for the ZS-50 so I'll have to figure that out. And the light flickers much more than I like and I'm not sure what is causing that other than my editing shows the light variation more and then the youtube stabilizer enhances that.

Oh, and once in awhile, don't forget to look back at the trail you've traveled. |
