| no partners | | Did some poking around this morning, in an attempt to take a few sunrise pictures at Saguaro Lake. Got to the marina before dawn with plenty of time to spare. Set up shop took a few pictures and then made the fatal mistake to engage a conversation with this 71 year old fella who was picking up trash. Well, an hour and one missed sunrise later, I was fully briefed on the old testament, racism, and media bias. I am way too courteous to just cut someone off, but I did finally just pack up my stuff, head to the Jeep, and take off. I do believe that he was still talking as I drove away.
Went up to Butcher Jones and started in on the trail along the lake there for some more pictures. There were two young lads fishing and shooting shotguns. Not necessarily fearing for my life, but their close proximity had me concerned that I might become collateral damage (they were firing right from aside the trail!). I turned back and found the most accommodating tarantula who just loved getting his/her picture taken.
Headed down to the road below the dam where the dude ranch is and scouted around a bit. The no parking sign kept me in the Jeep and moving along to my next destination.
A little further down the road is the Salt River Recreation Area. I parked there and headed to the river. There was a spot where the river was crossable, but not rock hoppable. A few more pictures and then time to head back and do Sunday chores. |
