| partners | | I've been sick for the better part of a week, and finally returned to work today. After a couple of hours, I was exhausted and decided to head home to nap.
Oh well. Instead, Hippy and I embarked on the modern day Saguaro Pentathlon! Five events of uniquely desert-dwelling experience before she heads to the high-country this weekend.
We began with some fun 4x4 driving in the Rolls before stopping off at coves 1 and 2, where there were a surprising number of people about. Next, we hit the water for some swimming in the brisk 58-degree water, followed by a little boating in the Sevyelor. Next, we had to stop for a little target shooting, just 'cause this is Arizona, and we can!
We completed the quintet (pentet?) with an easy 6-mile hike along the Butcher Jones Trail, including another swimming break at Peregrine Point. There were quite a few boats and other folks out enjoying the lake today, including a whole bunch who had no business getting off their couch.
Not sure I'll feel any less sick tomorrow, but it was a great day today, and that's all that matters! |

Wildflowers Observation Moderate Poppies, Lupines and Dichelostemma capitatum abound, especially from about 1-2 miles from the trailhead. |
