| no partners | | Another trip around the backyard. About 7° warmer today, at 83°, when I started. I could tell. Went up the ridge just south of Thunderbird, following the under-construction trail west. They've finished .33 miles of fresh trail in the past three monrths. A further .17 miles are marked, to where it rejoins the ridge trail at the west end of the ridge ( hikearizona.com/map ... &M=6 ). Not sure what the new trail's purpose is, as it basically follows the contour line, about 60-80 below the top of the ridge, which is a 180-200 foot prominence. I assume it is authorized trail construction, due to all the markers. There's a similar, much older (at least seven years older) trail on the south side of the ridge, between it and Trail 100. So, I assume someone wants a high speed MTB loop around the ridge. That's all I can figure. After all, if you are just passing by, and want to haul a**, just stay on Trail 100 itself. Makes no sense ... |
