| partners | | Summer is one of those seasons that everytime one gets the chance to get out of Phoenix it is always a welcomed proposition!
This past weekend we headed out to Mount San Antonio (Mt. Baldy,CA). After getting off work at 5PM our group of 9 hikers met and quickly drove out of town. It was nice knowing we didnt have to take a big detour out of the way off the I-10 going west.
The road heading up Mt. Baldy was as fun as it can get, lots of curves and tight turns all the way up to the TH. Once we arrived at around midnight, we quickly gathered and had a couple IPAs before going to sleep for the night and early wake up call on saturday morning. At 715AM we started our hike up the mountain, surrounded by many other hikers,.....it is quite the popular hike up to the summit. On our way up we lost Lucie and Kyle and ended up doing the loop clockwise, while Lucie and Kyle went the opposite way, both groups met at the summit and enjoyed the great vistas for about 1.5 hours. On the way up there was a small waterfall very close to the ski hut managed by the Sierra Club. The trail is quite well worn and easy to follow all the way to the top. As we continued our second half of the loop we quickly started making our way down with the goal of making it back to the trailhead by 2PM but along the way we lost 15 mins walking around the ski lodge trying to find the trail. After that small hicup we continued making our way down and made it back at 2:20PM.
After getting the whole group together we left the TH and headed to the San Jacinto area to disperse camp for the night. We ended up finding a secluded spot along the highway with a parking lot along the PCT. On sunday morning we gathered our gear and headed back home. Great success! |
