| no partners | | Started at 4:20am, a good time to get high in the morning, sober of course. Lots of people already on the trail - that's the way to do it. I feel for those starting late and climbing up in the sun.
Cruised up to Baldy Notch and caught a great sunrise over the San Bernardinos. Devil's Backbone is a little hairy in only a couple spots, no wind made for a nice stroll. Opted to bag Mount Harwood on the way via a well-traveled social trail. Amazing views from Harwood, including Baldy. The views got even better after the last push to San Antonio - totally stunning. Only a small batch of early risers up top at 7:30am. Highly recommend this counterclockwise and early because the lighting is immaculate in all directions, lights up all the mountains - or maybe I just got lucky today.
Lots of traffic coming up through Baldy Bowl, damn near all of the people are keen to the rule of downhill yielding to uphill traffic. It cost some extra time but the brief breaks were welcome. Had to hit up Baker's on the way home for carbs. Great outing. |
