| partners | | After two weeks of 'rest' my left ankle was finally pain-free so it was time to get back into hiking after our return from Africa.
Not ready to stress the ankle too much I looked for something relatively flat while Tracey wanted someplace cooler, yet a place where we can get to with the Fit. Milk Point Road area looked like a good option, one that could provide some nice Rim views.
It was a perfect day for the hike and by avoiding the Rim Road we avoided the traffic. We wandered off the road a number of times to check out various views from the Rim, sometimes following game (mainly elk) trails. While most of the terrain was reasonably flat, I was glad I wore an Ace ankle support. The ankle did fine, but I did have some complaints from my hips and knees... sitting around for 2 weeks did no good for them. But by time we were done, I was feeling pretty good. Whether from endorphins or just glad to be out hiking again, I felt great. |
