| partners | | Mountain bike tire issues meant the end of biking for this trip to the Rim, so we had to adjust the plans. With none of our normal hiking gear we had nothing but street shoes (my biking shoes are NOT for hiking!) so we thought we'd take a short stroll from the Mogollon Rim Visitor Center.
Well, one thing led to another and pretty soon we found we had a long walk back. But by cutting across country for a few short-cuts we cut what would have been over 10 miles down to just over 8. Good thing because I was out of fluid for the last 90 minutes. (We were just going for a short stroll... remember? Ha!) But then the high temp was just over 80 so it wasn't that big a deal.
But my feet sure felt like a bigger deal, and they aren't feeling the best right now... the shoes I wore were already almost through the sole. If only we'd taken the Jeep... it's always filled with extra gear for almost every occasion. But then the Fit made the trip on less than 1/3 the gas the Jeep would have been. |
