| partners | | Great overnight in Bonita Creek. We drove up Friday night after work and car camped at the start of our loop. First we had to do some road walking and a cool side canyon down to Bonita along the Safford Morenci Trail. Once in Bonita we found Chum's old camp spot from two years ago. Great spot amongst the cottonwoods and sycamores along the creek. We did some short day hikes in the afternoon upstream to Lady Gay Cabin and then out and back in Midnight Canyon. Returning to camp we enjoyed a cool December evening with a warm fire and some beverages.
Next morning we took our time getting started and wished Kyle a Happy Birthday! No rush getting going but once we finally did it was really cool hike down Bonita Creek. Beaver dams, small pools, riparian goodness, and some nice cliff walls mixed in! Reaching the southern end of our creek hike we followed the road back to the vehicles. |
