| partners | | We managed a 9am start after leisurely morning in the campground. Mount Ajo Peak didn't disappoint as it had a bit of everything. Cool scrambling, great views, unique rock formations, and awesome 360 view summit. It's a healthy ascent at just under 3000 feet but the reward is worth it. We spent time on the summit enjoying the views, lunch and of course a summit brew After that we headed back down and just above Bull Pasture we went off trail in search of supposed spring in the area. Never found the alleged spring box but there was a few small pools near the spring location. It appeared that perhaps a month ago this creek had some light flow in the creek. After off trail excursion we reunited with the trail and meet Angela for the hike back down. But instead of going the same way back we explored the Estes Canyon Trail back to the TH. Great hike...wouldn't mind doing this one again closer to the winter rains and exploring Bull Pasture Spring area and upper Estes Canyon. |
