Wanted to check out my feathered friends on 2016's first day. Wasn't disappointed particularly between Central and 7th St. Counted 48 ducks, 27 of them ring-necked. The rest were mallards. Also about 30 blackbirds on the north bank, including several grackles. And, weep, weep, a lonely love bird in a tree. And of course the usual congregation of doves, mostly the mourning kind and a mockingbird. Couldn't ask for a better afternoon. Sunny, temps in 60s. Saw only a few pedestrains but many bikers.
