Nothing is better than to plan a Culinary and Canyoneering adventure and having it play out flawless!

One of the crew saw Outdoor Lovers triplog for El Cap and brought the idea forward. Since we had recently been in the area I've been waiting for an excuse to go eat more burritos! I planned out an agenda that started the day in Mammoth eating burritos and ended the day in Mammoth eating more burritos. Did I mention that Mammoth has good Mexican food?

We stopped first at Mi Pueblitos! Everyone looked happy with their breakfasts. I really recommend the Green Chili Breakfast Burrito! My only disappointment was that they didn't have pumpkin empanadas. I made due with an apple one which was tasty.

We continued onto the TH and arrived on schedule. We walked the road and then bushwhacked, I mean followed a cow trail, into the canyon. We rock hopped downstream and soon were at the top of the first drop. Many of the drops looked like they probably could be downclimbed but we were there to practice rigging so we set up the rappel. A couple of the guys made excuses about being left handed or right handed and mentioned needing to watch YouTube. So I didn't bother to extend my lecture past clove hitches. But hopefully they'll impress me and come back next time with expert skills including biner blocks using clove hitches, munter mules, and much more!

We avoided most of the water. I didn't want to stress my shoulder so instead of climbing around I went ahead and walked in the knee deep pool. I felt dumb for carrying a wetsuit I never put on. However I would have felt dumber to have needed it and not had it.

The canyon was amazingly beautiful for how easy and short it was. I had not expected it to be such a pleasure!

We finished early and headed out for our next stop on our adventure, Las Michoacanas Mexican Restaurant. I was starving so I ordered Carmelito and a beef empanada. Yum!

The day was a success and we all got home early despite the packed agenda for the day!
