| partners | | I had a nontechnical canyon I had wanted to explore further on my list. I had been in Box Canyon but only saw a small part of it. Finally a day came where it was the perfect agenda. My memory was kinda bad so I didn't talk it up or anything. I just asked if people wanted to bushwhack and explore a canyon. We had a nice small group of four!
We bushwhacked down into the canyon waltzing around cholla mine fields and loose boulders. Soon enough we were in the canyon. I was amazed by the amount of water. I started to question whether we could complete the hike and keep dry.
We did a lot of rock hopping and bouldering as we continued up stream. Pools and waterfalls were abound!
A few places we had to work our way around big rocks piled up. In one spot we did caving like moves climbing into a small tunnel. In a few spots,
I had to get help due to my shoulder.
The geology of the area was cool. There were spots where the creek had eroded everything down to the bedrock. Beautiful!
Lucky for me the grand finale was right where I remembered and we enjoyed the biggest of the waterfalls before we bushwhacked out of the canyon. |
