| no partners | | Hiked from Lockett Meadow to Inner Basin with Lynn and Skippy. Parking was at a premium. Arrived at the TH around 11am and circled the 1-way loop in search of parking without any luck. We decided to pull into the first campsite as you first enter the camp grounds and parked way off to the side. This site was empty when we pulled in.
Autumn colours are just starting to take hold within Inner Basin. Don't know how long they will last with the gale-force winds we had to deal with...
This hike was more of a workout than I can recall in the past. I was somewhat surprised by the accumulated elevation gain and couple that with the altitude, you've got a great workout! Trail signs indicate ~1000 ft elevation difference between Lockett Meadow and Inner Basin and my GPS pretty much agrees with that estimate.
I can report that this was the first time on this trail without being chased away by a lightning storm. Guess the gale-force winds were a worthy substitute! |
