Guess I'll log a trip as it'll be a couple more hours 'till the photos transfer.

Arrived around six in the morning to wind and a cloud halo around the peaks. Spent about two and half hours in the front field. Surprisingly the first hour and half I didn't see another sole. The morning light was fair with some cloud gap opportunities that went fast each round. Another guy came out shootin' landscape photos, greeted and let him take over the sweet spot. Another guy arrived with his large format, camera tent and the whole shabang, he's probably test driving his new Ferrari right about now.

There was a very slight trace of snow off and on for a couple hours. Headed up getting suckered into the usual shots along the way. Tried finding new angles. Up in the basin it was friggen cold. Went from feeling like I was gonna die to swearing I wanted to...lol So I threw back on the winter gear I'd shed a couple hours earlier.

Humphries had the perfect dusting of snow. I looked and looked for the shot but wasn't seeing anything great. Then I just decided to dart off, over and up to get a different shot. As I'm waiting for the clouds to mingle proper I gazed over my shoulder and my jaw literally dropped. Doubt I did it any justice but man it was a sweeet view!

Right about ten o'clock I'm beginning to wonder if the world knows it's Autumn. I hadn't seen anybody minus the friendly photographer guy on trail. Then it hit. One group, another, another, the class of NAU, the residents of Flagstaff... people greeting me in languages I've never heard. This place made Squaw Peak in February look like a rare find.

The hike was a classic but the timing could not have been better.
