| no partners | | This short walk between the road and the hot springs is a quick taste of the northwest, nestled above the Willamette River and the picturesque Cougar reservoir, the hike in national forest leads you to a series of 5 hot springs, each with ~8 person capacity and descending in elevation. Off the beaten path, the "pot of gold" is worth the windy drive, which is already rewarding with breathtaking views of the reservoir.
The tubs are clothing optional, which we were advised of by the hosting Ranger, and visually forewarned by a passing hiker who was wearing only a tactfully placed canvas bag. The tubs are a must-do, with perennial temps in the tubs ranging from 110 at the top tank to 80s at the bottom. I descended from hottest to cold, as the hot ones calmed my energy first. The overhanging mossy pine ambience and lithium leaching chilled me out for the rest of the day. As always with tubs, very friendly and interesting bathers... |
