I was shocked to find how open the last mile or so were going to the top. All the sudden you pop out on what must have been a fire or burn, and you have views all around. The signage is easy to follow as you stay straight on Drew (291) to FR 300 while Highline trail heads to the right.
I need to feel a little burn when I hike, and the last mile did the trick! Steep but you have peek-a-boo views all the way to the top. A very rewarding hike. We stopped a lot for pictures and bird watching. Didn't see any hikers, but did see 3 bikers (pushing/walking).
My summary experience: Drew Canyon is like the hotter, younger sister of See Canyon. |
