The man candy, daughter and I decided to head out to Bear Canyon for two reasons; one to enjoy the fall weather and two, to play Ingress, our other nerdy hobby. The temp was about 55 as we hit the trail at about 7:30 a.m. We took the dirt trail to the east of the parking lot.

Tons of cars in the lot and a lot of people walking towards Bear Canyon, although as we crossed the bridge to turn away from Sabino Dam, we lost many of the people. It was cool and quiet in Bear Canyon. We passed a few hikers on the trail and a few trail runners passed us, but for the most part, the trail was ours this early.

It had recently rained and there was a beautiful trickle of water flowing through the canyon and all the pools were filled up with fresh water. I saw mountain lion tracks when we stopped for a snack.

We hiked 4 miles in and decided to stop at our Ingress portal and have a bite to eat. While sitting there about 50 people passed us on their way to the pools, so we decided to head back as we weren't wanting to sacrifice our solitude to go to the pools.
