Note: Eastern Sierra Ancha referring to- The East side of Cherry Creek Road(FR203) / East side of Cherry Creek;

Oregon_Hiker and I have had this seven day camp/hike off-trail explore trip (4/12 to 4/18/17) on our planning calendars for months. This was a totally new area for me that I had yet to visit and one I had been much looking forward too.

My sincere thanks to our Oregon_Hiker who spent many hours viewing Google Earth which included two trips to a local library to help plan this most successful and rewarding trip. This entire area has a wealth of ancient Native American habitat history as well as historic ranching homesteads, numerous Asbestos mine Adits history, with scenic riparian areas too. We had no problem filling-up a week of remote off-trail exploring with a revisit to be planned for more of the same :D

Our basecamp was located off both high-clearance and 4WD required FR202 at a central location ~5350ft elevation which provided a close proximity for our daily driving and/or hiking plans for our weeks' itinerary.

I unfornatuately took a really bad loose rocky fall on my first full day of hiking (day two) and ended up with a pretty major, deep upper right forearm scrape which necessitated me staying in camp on day three to confirm no obvious infection. Thanks to no infection and my adequate first aid kit + some additional 3x4 non-stick gauze pads supplied by Larry, I was able to keep going for our planned days 4 thru 7. Up at 6:00am each morning (in-tent week temps ranged from 36F to 38F) and to bed each night by 7:30pm. Perfect Spring camping weather with no rain and minimal winds.

Again, my thanks to Larry and to one other important contributor who helped make this trip a success.. :yr: !!
+ one other appreciated amenity after seven days in the wild- igallery/image_page.php?id=4168
