Day 3 at High Jinks Ranch and today we tackled the north section of AZT # 14. Starting from the previous days ending point at Camp Grant Wash we hiked the steady climb out of the wash towards Antelope Peak. You can see Antelope almost the entire time as it slowly gets closer. Initially the trail follows road for about 2 miles until it reaches Beehive Well. The tank at the well was nearly full and smaller tank in the corral for the cows. From there it becomes trail leaving the washes and staying mostly on ridgelines as it draws closer to Antelope. We had lunch at Antelope Wash and Tank before making the final trek to Antelope Peak. The trail traverses to the east side of the peak and then turns back west once north of the peak. From the north side there is a road that takes you part way up but the top 350 feet and 0.3 miles is off trail. After hitting the peak I caught up with the others and we finished the last 2 miles which is mostly road walking. We picked up a lot of Bud Light cans along the road sections which was basically the theme of the weekend....Coors Light finished a distant second.
