The drive out to this one was a adventure on its own, the road I took is more designed for UTV's as it is a very narrow road even for my versatile QX4, lots of areas where there is no turn arounds, lots of exposed cliff-sides and muddy rutted obstacles.
Once I arrived the fun only got better, dropped down using a steep slick-rock drainage and once at creek bed I was in for a hearty bushwhack with a lot of climbing and maneuvering over the massive amount of debris and deadfall from a recent flash flood.
This was one of those rare times where my research and satellite imagery paid off because the area I found was a complete dream!
Pink and red polished granite sections with numerous cascades and waterfalls along the way made this one of the best finds to date!
It was nearly 8pm when I reached that section but the sunset and scene was too good for me to not take my camera out and set up for a few quick shots although that left me bushwhacking upstream in complete darkness followed by a steep ascent back up.
After the monsoons die down I will most certainly be doing a full descent backpacking trip documenting the many more wonders this incredible creek has to offer. |
