Dropped straight down into a drainage not far from Loggers Bog, the area was ravished by the Wallow Fire but it is steadily rejuvenating with a lot of young aspens growing on the hillsides. Steep getting down and lots of deadfall but all in all not bad that bad, the river gorge in that area is deep, downright awesome and worth the effort.
The following day I checked out a pristine little section off of FR 25 and wandered around there marking out campsites for future visits along with visiting one I labeled on the map long ago.
Later that day the group I and hit up Buffalo Crossing and while the rest of the gang enjoyed happy hour I walked down the East Fork about a mile and snagged a bit of the only decent sunset of the weekend!
This was my first time even seeing the Black River and I find such a connection with this impressive area of Arizona! |
