As soon as we entered the park Kelly had us on one of our steepest climbs of the whole trip. You start off hiking among the Dana lakes. It is pretty but short lived as the climbing begins. There are a couple small flat spots but it sure doesn't feel like it. The climb seems to cut you no slack and had me close to crying uncle. we even got to cross a small snow field. No false summit was a welcome bonus to go along with the awesome views. Seeing Mono lake from high above is really cool. The rest of the views aren't to shabby either. We also saw our first of many Marmots we would see while on our trip. Kudo's to Kelly for setting a good pace and getting us up this awesome summit! |
